I guess times change. Apparently this is from the time period 1980-1985, which surprises me, because I remember watching gameshows then, and I don't remember this one. Good thing I guess.

All I know is had this taken place in the last ten to fifteen years, this guy would've lasted on the air about 2 and half seconds. The guy in question is Fergie Olver, and the show is called Just Like Mom.

The Perfect Drive

Two men were playing golf one afternoon. They were about to wrap up a fun round, and were about to tee off at the par-5 18th hole.

The first man hit his drive straight down the fairway without hesitation. The second man had more trouble with his effort. He kept checking his alignment, backing off, rechecking, and backing off.

After 5 minutes off this, his friend asked what the problem was..

The man on the tee said that his wife was watching from the observation deck just behind the 18th green, and that he wanted to hit the perfect shot.

The man watching said, "You're wasting your time buddy, there is no way you can possibly hit her from here."

7 Self-Defense Techniques That Could Save Your Life

You decide to go for a late-night walk in your neighborhood. It’s been a rough day, and you just want to go out for a little while to clear your head. You’re enjoying yourself until suddenly you hear what sounds like footsteps behind you. You turn around to see what it is and realize that someone is running towards you with a knife. Although this is a situation that we hope we’re never faced with, there is the possibility that something like this could actually happen. It’s always a good thing to be prepared, so read on and keep those shoulders back.

Do as They Say
You should never try to be a “hero”. This means that if someone is pointing a gun or knife at you, you should comply with his or her demands. No amount of money or other item is worth your life. If someone demands your watch from you, give it to them. The main point to remember is that safety should be your main concern.

Run!
When you have the opportunity, you should always try to run away from your attacker. There’s no need to fight if you don’t have to. The attacker could have a knife or gun, which they could use to seriously harm or kill you; running isn’t going to change that but it may startle them enough to save your life. When you run, try to get to a public area, or at least a house with the lights on, and call 911.

Avoid Dangerous Situations
You should try to avoid unfamiliar areas of town, especially late at night. In these situations, you could get lost or not know where to run for help. Avoid walking through strange neighborhoods if you can, and when driving, make sure that your doors are locked and never talk to anyone you don’t know; don’t even slow down if somebody looks like they intend to approach your car.

World's Longest Sea Bridge Opened In China

The world's longest bridge over sea water has opened in opened to general traffic on in China's eastern coastal city of Qingdao. Jiaozhou Bay is located on the southern coast of the Shandong Peninsula in East China. It separates Huangdao District from Qingdao City and borders on two other cities, Jiaozhou and Jiaonan. The Qingdao Haiwan Bridge, with a total length of 42.4 kilometres would easily cross the English Channel and is almost three miles longer than the previous record-holder, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the American state of Louisiana. Built in just four years at a cost of 55.5 billion pounds, the sheer scale of the bridge reveals the advances made by Chinese engineers in recent years.

Incredible Rock Music Era 1: Sept. 1983 - Sept. 1984

What an incredible year for hard rock releases. I was in 7th grade, and transitioning my piano-trained mind from the likes of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, popular rock like Prince, Billy Squier, and Night Ranger - to the likes of some harder bands. Def Leppard was instrumental in this transition. One of the best albums of all time, Def Leppard's Pyromania was still in my head, and going strong since its January, 1983 release, and I've just began with my first drum set. Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" was a highlight in my growth as a drummer, as I was featured on my set in our 8th grade band's performance of it in fall of 1984. The rest is history:

Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil - Sept. 1983

Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon - Dec. 1983

Van Halen - 1984 - Jan. 1984

Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith - Jan. 1984

Ratt - Out of the Cellar - Mar. 1984

Rush - Grace Under Pressure - Apr. 1984

Scorpions - Love at First Sting - May 1984

Metallica - Ride The Lightning - July 1984

Dokken - Tooth and Nail - Sept. 1984

Iron Maiden - Powerslave - Sept. 1984

Queensryche - The Warning - Sept. 1984

(A preview of what's to come in another era..)

What an incredible year of rock releases, huh? Rush is really the only one who is on this list, but whose prior songs were really more prevalent than their newest release during this period. So began my backtrack to the BEST Rush, and the beginnings of Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Van Halen. Another Era will also be showing you The Cult, who has by this time already introduced their debut album, plus one. Pink Floyd and Boston were both kind-of in hiatus. Enjoy!

That Would Be A Record

On Aug. 4, 1982, Mets center fielder Joel Youngblood had driven in two runs against Cubs pitcher Ferguson Jenkins in an afternoon game at Wrigley Field when he was traded in mid-game to the Montreal Expos.

He left the game and flew to Philadelphia in time to take up a position in right field at Veterans Stadium at the bottom of the sixth in an evening game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

In the top of the seventh he singled

against Steve Carlton. That makes Youngblood the only player in history to get a base hit for two different teams in two different cities on the same day — and he did it against two future Hall of Famers.
